The following tutorial will show you how to partition the Hard Disk External use the default application for Mac OS X Disk Utility which you can find in the folder / Applications / Utilities.

Attention! Make sure you have backup the contents of your Hard Disk – HD if it contains critical data.

Run Disk Utility. And in the left column will appear a series of HD and its partitions that exist on your system. Pick your External HD by clicking its icon and select Partitions menu listed at the top.

Then, select Hard Disk partition scheme you want on the choice of the Volume Scheme. In this example, we will partition the HD into two partitions.

Your HD will be partitioned into two pieces. To change the size of each partition, you can move up / down two or more of partition columns.

For you who also works in the Windows environment and want one partition to be used in Windows, then select MS-DOS option from the Format options.

Then, press the Options button. And will perform three (3) choices of the partition to your HD. For those of you who use Mac-Intel, select GUID Partition Table. You are using a Mac-PowerPC, please select the Apple Partition Map. While you want HD can be used in Windows, choose Master Boot Record. [Read more...]
