Pros: Easy to use. Gives you what it says… ability to read ebooks from a particular proprietary format. You can change the background etc.

Cons: Incompatible with any other format. Conversion from .txt (as provided by gutenberg ) is full of hassles.

Summary: I had more cons… Not all books are available to buy in all countries. So no point in using software if half the books are not available to me.

YOU cant select any part of the text ( to look it up in say wikipedia or wordweb) and it isnt compatible with wordweb. So to look up a word i have to type it out rather than use the hotkey or c<trl+c ctrl+v> intowordweb to get the meaning. I can understand them not making it compatible with a free desktop dictionary software that they never heard of, but i certainly need to be able to copy at least part of the text. Imagine not being able to quote Douglus adams even though you have the Hitchhikers ebook.

I keep getting a popup every now and then to register… but i am not sure i want to keep it, so i am not going to register.

SUMMARY : Never used the kindle, perhaps people who have the device need it, but there are better options available for PC users. Am going to try Calibre now… But iI am giving up on this s/w cos i have specific requirements ( Compatibility with multiple formats ranging from text/pdf/doc/rtf/perhaps even .lit and .pdb )
