Come on Vacation to Komodo Island

Who doesn't know Komodo Island? Komodo Island is one of the icons of pride in the tourism sector in Indonesia. 

How could it not be, Komodo Island Tourism is one of the New 7 Wonders of Nature which held its inauguration ceremony in 2013 on Komodo Island.

Great, right? Besides that, Komodo Island has also been recognized by the world through UNESCO which pegs Komodo Island as a World Heritage alias World Heritage. 

Even before it was declared a world wonder, Komodo Island had become a favorite destination for many tourists.

Komodo Island is an island located in the Nusa Tenggara Islands. To be precise, Komodo Island is in the Komodo sub-district, West Manggarai is in the province of NTT. 

Komodo Island is located at the far end of the province of East Nusa Tenggara on the west side, to the border with NTB.

You can also find Komodo Island in the eastern part of Sumbawa Island and then separated by the Sape Strait.

This island was first discovered by the Dutch fleet who reported the existence of a large animal resembling a dragon on Komodo Island.

Lt. Steyn van Hens Broek then investigated and killed a dragon and took it to the Museum & Botanical Garden (currently known as the Bogor Botanical Gardens) for research. Komodo dragons are classified as ancient animals and were studied by Peter Ouwens in 1910.

Komodo Island is the original habitat of Komodo dragons. Recorded until August 2009, there are approximately 1300 dragons that inhabit this island.

Did you know that now, Komodo dragons can only be found in Indonesia, one of which is on Komodo Island? Wow! 

Not only Komodo Island, there are also several other islands that are the habitat of these large animals, namely Rinca Island and Gili Montang, bringing the total to 2,500 Komodo dragons.

Apart from that, you can also find around 100 Komodo dragons in the Wae Wuul Nature Reserve on Flores Island. Komodo Island was then protected by the government by establishing it as the Komodo National Park.

Apart from Komodo dragons, on the island you can find unique endemic flora, namely Sepang wood which is used by local residents for medicine and clothing coloring. 

Besides that, this vital tree or sterculia oblongata has delicious and tasty seeds like peas.

Well, it seems that Komodo Island does not only have Komodo dragons and interesting flora. 

Komodo Island seems to be visited a lot because of 2 other wonders, namely the Pink Beach and Komodo National Park.

The Pink Beach, which is located on Komodo Island, is one of the 7 pink sand beaches in the world, you know! 

This pink sand is actually a mixture of white sand and sea coral fragments that are red in color, so they look pink.

This pink beach is very beautiful and still clean, so you must visit this tourist attraction on Komodo Island while you are here!

Besides Pink Beach, there is also the Komodo National Park, where you will be treated to the diversity of life on Komodo Island.

Here, you can find 277 species of animals that are used as transitional animals between Asia and Australia.

Apart from land, you can also see the natural wealth under the sea, in 70 types of sponges, 253 coral reefs, and 1,000 fish.
